My fiance is going to have surgery for a herniated disc (L4/L5?) and we are wondering what the average time for recovery is. He is a healthy 30 year old who is adequately active and has a healthy diet. We are expecting our first child, so his recovery is a question that we would like as much info as possible about.

My operating system is` Windows XP Media Edition`: somtime ago I backed up my files onto a disc, but can`t remmember how to restore the data back on to PC, help appreciated.
run the disk, when the autoplay window appears, wait for it to load > click open folder > drag and drop or copy and paste your files to your favourite location, for example if its a picture folder, click on start menu, drag the folder onto of Pictures
1.When I already backup my pc, do the backup disk contain the operating system and other files I installed in my computer?

Back up is for data you’ve created (music, photos, letters, documents) & has no operating system files.
Recovery disk has only the operating system (as provided by the manufacturer). Using this may delete any data files on your hard drive, depending on which method of ‘restoration’ you select from that recovery disk.
Note: if your doing a system restore;
Before you do anything, back up your drivers to a separate CD!

Use the ‘identify & back up all drivers’ for the first BU; & keep it with your unit.
Data back-ups are separate items from System backups;
Data are things you have created or added to you unit with programs: letters, documents, pictures, music, etc. These should be done every other week or 1X per month.
Windows has a backup built in (System Tools> Backup), but I find it bulky & hard to use.
Your 1st backup should be the ‘all’ data option as a baseline; after that use the ‘incremental’, which saves only new items, and changes to originals. This saves space on you backup media.
Ideally 2 copies are made of each backup: one kept with the unit, one kept ‘off site’ in case of fire, storms, etc.
One decent B.U. application is ‘Cobain’ (moderately easy to use; freeware).

I deleted all of the information on my hard drive and it won’t even pick up when it is plugged in. I think I might have to take it to someone who can fix it for me.
The thing is I cant even open the drive (external) it won’t open like its not even there. I really don’t know what to do with it.

I have two laptops of the same brand; one is older and has less stuff loaded on it from the factory that takes up less space on the hard drive and less RAM. The newer one has a much larger hard drive and more RAM, but it also has a lot of stuff loaded onto it from the factory that uses a lot of RAM. Can I use the system recovery disks of the older, smaller computer on the newer one, and therefore have more hard drive space and more RAM? Can system recovery disks be used on computers of different brands? What if you completely wiped the hard drive first?
The system recovery disks that come with a new PC can’t be used on a different PC. There are drivers for that PC that can’t be used on other PC’s. And in some cases the cd’s are coded for only that motherboard.
The manufactures do this to prevent illegal copies.
My motherboard died, with a Raid 0 do you think I lost my data. If not can i transfer it to a single SATA Hard Drive? Please give the easiest way that I can do it myself… please no geek squad!
As long the hard drives are in perfect condition, your data is still intact. Either put them in a new motherboard and boot the array or boot a third hard drive and copy the files onto it.
Need a full backup of the 320 Gb disk. If anyone has done this before. What are the exact steps I shall follow?
