What is recovery disk and does it work?

I have window vista. Recently I had a problem and started with the monitor, it went to sleep, and did not want to wake up. I talked to 3 HP technicians, they all said something different. And I believed they also messed up my computer somehow. My computer is on safe mode, and could not be back to the default setting. I was told to install the recovery disk. Will that help? If anyone know,s please help.

Recovery disks, or recovery partition which is what you are more likely to have, are ways that standard computer users can restore their computer to the way it was when they purchased it.

Generally, it deletes everything and reloads the original files. In other words, it will delete ANYTHING you saved.

To use it, you would need to read the directions that came with the computer. As different manufacturers use different recovery options.

  3. place disk in drive: re-start follow on screen instructions. this will reset your computer back to when you first got it.

  4. i believe it will take you back to the beginning, not sure weather or not you may lose all your other stuff.
    see if you can find a way to go backward say about a month or so. i can do that with my computer when things go wrong.
    ask around about that program. hopefully it’s already installed on your computer.
    windows vista has been nothing but problems for a lot of people out there who have up-graded to that system.

  5. Backup your data and try with recovery disk.

    If still didn’t work reinstall the operating system.
