Hard Drive file recovery very important?
I lost a lot of cherished family videos from my hard drive. Can I send it to microsoft for them to recover it (or some other official company, no guys who no one’s ever heard of or something, like a big name company). The hard drive was manufactured by western digital.
Physically damaged drive data can be recovered by recovery centers. If your drive is not physically damaged, u can recover them by yourself.

Stop using your computer if you can. Download the software to disc on another one. Run the software on yours. You will be able to see what it finds. then you will need an external device like an external hard drive to send the recovered files to. The cost is only paid if you want to save what it finds. Around $70 . I used this program to find lost pictures do to a crash. Found most of them. The problem is if you continue to use your computer the files may become to fragmented to view.

what you do depends on what is wrong with the drive. The first thing to try is slaving the drive to your new drive and see if you can recover the files. If you can access the drive and you accidently deleted the files there are undelete utilities out there where you can recover the files. one such utility is recuva from http://www.piriform.com/recuva
something to consider, if the drive had a mechanical failure, then it will be very expensive to recover the files

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what’s happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn’t deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.
If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
If the deleted files are on your PC, use another PC to browse the internet for a solution as internet browsing causes lots of temporary files to get written to the disk. Download any file recovery software, for example, to a memory stick, plug that in the computer with the deleted files and run it from there.
If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don’t save any new files to it.
