If i have formatted my HARDDRIVE ,could others still can recovery my files? ?

I heard some body said no matter you formatted your HDD ,it would still have residue left in your HDD.

You have two choices: Try an app named:
Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostics 5.3
Write Zeros to the HDD "Format C:\Replace data w\_Fill_000000000000000"
Please note: what accurs is, the HDD formated first then, its filled with random data (knowed as writting ZERO’s to HDD)
Then, it formats it again…
that makes data unrecoverable.

It’s free by the way.

2) Destroy it! Just place the HDD in a Turkey pot (make sure the HDD is rapped in aluminum foil to reduce smell and, finally place the pot in the oven set it to 2 Hours and, HDD will be creamated. Hope it helps. :)

  1. yes … with right software you can retrieve old info unless you write over it with new info

  2. by formatting, you might have removed all files/folders on your PC including OS, because that’s wat happens when installing a new OS, the PC formats everything on the PC to install the OS, maybe you should reinstall the OS.

  3. Yes, If no data replaces that location, it can be retrieved

  4. If you really need to wipe out data you need to overwrite each byte several times, which is not what happens when you reformat or when you repartition. You can use testdisk to repeatedly randomly write over each bit with 1s and 0s.

  5. Even though you formatted it, with some professional software you can recover some files left in your HDD, this takes time and isn’t always successful, but yes, it is possibly to recover files from before format.

The old files can be recovered unless they have been "wiped" or overwritten with other data.
Go to Cnet. com and search for Privacy Software. They have some programs that will blank out the hard drive. One of the programs is called "R-Wipe and Clean". It is free to try and will overwrite the disk up to 35 times with blank data.
Be prepared to let the program run for a whole day or more if you have a drive of about 80 Gigabytes.

I have 2 HDDs. Main (C:) NTFS, Slave on same IDE cable (D:) FAT32.

Did clean reinstall, used Nuke & Boot first. Forgot it doesn’t see NTFS drives.

Put in XP CD, did full format, CD said Windows Installation already exists. Replace? I said yes. Repeated exact same perocess. Then may brain woke up. I panicked, all my "stuff" is on the 2nd HDD. I checked, it was fesh, virgin, empty HDD.

I downloaded a free undelete program (don’t remember which one), ran it and recovered 80% of my "stuff."

Not happy about losing 20%, but better than 100% loss!
