Is there any photo recovery software where you don’t need an sd card reader?

Today I was forced to delete photos from my camera – Canon 1000d – and I don’t have a card reader, just a lead to my camera. Most photo recovery software do not support sd cards that are being read from the camera, can anyone help my problem?
