Can you use Recovery disks from a different computer to recover another computer?
Say you have two brand new HP laptops of the same model, you start them both up and make Recovery disks on one of them. Can you use those Recovery disks on either computer? Or are the recovery disks exclusive to each computer? Thanks for any help!
Same make and model, yes you can. If they were different, the wrong drivers would get installed and you’d get blue screens and errors.

Hi There,
The recovery disks are probably exclusive for the computer they were made from. If both computers are exactly the same the disks from one might work on the other (but I would not count on it).
There is a code ("hash") generated by all the hardware in the computer and it’s version of windows. This code will be different for each machine.
Go ahead and make recovery disks for each machine, label and save in a safe place. You will be glad you did. You can only make one set of recovery disks from each machine so be sure you have enough good quality disks once you start. That’s what I have read.
You will need them in a year or so when windows becomes corrupt and starts acting "funny" or won’t boot up.
Hope this helps,
Al
