What is the average recovery time for laproscopy for a herniated vertebre?

My fiance is going to have surgery for a herniated disc (L4/L5?) and we are wondering what the average time for recovery is. He is a healthy 30 year old who is adequately active and has a healthy diet. We are expecting our first child, so his recovery is a question that we would like as much info as possible about.
